JF: A Softer World has been at the top of its game lately, alternating between inspired surreality and the sympathetic inner dreams of strips like this one. UW: I've been trying to come up with a good idea for a knockoff of ASW for a while now. So far my main idea for a gimmick is that the text would be neon colors instead of black. It's not really moving forward right now.

Slow Wave: Sat., 6/20/09
Unwinder: I feel like Slow Wave is finally hitting its stride again. I kinda zoned out when the format switched and there was continuity, but it's pretty good now. I like it again. JF: Continuous narrative? Cool idea, but isn't the cartoonist making more work for himself? That's only slightly easier than putting dreams into sonnet form...

PVP: 6/22 - 6/30

JF: Much like Geeks Next Door has done with its D&D feature for the website Dungeon Mastering, PVP this week has Jade introducing the women of the comic to tabletop role-playing. I found it a funny and satisfying representation of the RPG hobby. UW: Man, people keep on recommending this to me, and I don't know why, because it I don't care about this crap. Why do all my webcomic messageboard friends think I'm some sort of nerd?

The Non-Adventures of Wonderella: Sat., 7/04/09
UW: OK, for my picks, uh...Best Wonderella in a while just went up. It's another Nixon one, but it's also kind of a Michael Jackson-is-dead one. It's also a better-than-it-sounds one, so read it. JF: This actually is the first mention of Wonderella on TWIW. Which is surprising, because I've killed many a free afternoon cracking up at the archives.

Unwinder: OK, I don't want to spoil the ending of the latest Thinkin' Lincoln, but George Washington is trying to make taxation without representation look cool. Not reading it would make you look dorky. JF: Call me a dork, but I actually preferred Tuesday's comic. I'm a sucker for self-refuting statements.

JF: Chainsawsuit this week provides us with pick-up tips from professional ladies' man Huntyr Chase. From his popped collar to his spiky hair and soul patch, this guy is so obnoxious it's funny. UW: That reminds me! Remember Shredded Moose? Still kinda blows. But they are at least trying some new things lately, so you gotta give them credit for not blowing in the same ways as before.
